@Marcovdheide not the majority no. Recently there was an exodus of left leaning handles from twitter after a prominent left leaning intellectual was deplatformed from twitter because of his hateful tweets.

So the current sample of #india profile here on @Mastodon is not reflective of an average Indian in the current year of 2019

@Marcovdheide the court case was going on for more than 150 year.

Then In the year 1993, a majoritarian movement was built by political opposition in the country which culminated in the razing down of the unused structure and riots in which many died.

Today is the #verdict on the case who owns that piece of land and what would be built there

@Marcovdheide On most places of religious prominence for Hindus, muslim invaders destroyed the existing structures and built mosques. They did this all over India

In due course of History, Hindus learnt to live with this and bended in front of persecution.

One such place was Babri Masjid, where no namaz was generally offered and mostly Hindus worshiped in the compound as it is considered to be the birth place of the most prominent God of us Hindus, shr Ram

Mike's one piece of advice for new Mastodon users - dive into that Federated column and follow ANYONE and EVERYONE who looks like they've posted anything at all interesting to you. Just hammer the button. There's no penalty for mistakes. Go wild.

Later, when your Home timeline is buzzing, go in and unfollow people you decide you're not enjoying so much now.

Then do that again a few times. Then some more. Forever.

What’s about the verdict that everybody is speaking about. Here, the Netherlands, nobody has heard of it. It’s also not in the news.

@tj welcome to Mastodon.
It’s good to see that finally twitter has gone too far and this driving everybody to Mastodon.

First coffee of the day. I’ve got a hell of a head ache. The flu is still not out of my system.

Centralised power structures are always going to be simpler to manage and use. Platforms like Facebook, Insta and twitter are designed to control your attention. So all of us are habituated to certain ways of using social media as opposed to others. Taking back the control of our attention and employing it in places that doesn't tell you where or what to look at, is going to be hard. But it's neccesary. This is going to require persistence, willingness to learn and adapt.

Personal action to reduce #CO2. What people belief and that’s fact, see here:

What do we want? Climate action. When do we want it? Now. #FridaysForFuture #schoolstrike4climate

I've been on a #HOTOSM (tasks.hotosm.org/) kick lately, and it's at a really great intersection for me: open source, making maps, doing good/helping people, and fixing up sloppy work done by other (often well-meaning!) people. And it's short bursts of intense focus, as many times as I like. It's actually, uh, really great.

For those not familiar: various humanitarian organizations can ask #OpenStreetMap to help map an area (e.g. MSF wants to do a population survey and map before doing an anti-maria campaign), and #OSM will deploy their task force of volunteers to find residential areas via their MapSwipe app, and then task folks like me with outlining building and roads and such.
